What does the remembrance of 9/11 represents for me?

sage wisdom blog

The horrific events which occurred on 9/11 and the days that followed are imprinted in the hearts and memory of many people everywhere. We miss those whose lives were lost, their presence in our lives, what could have been, and our lives were forever changed. The remembrance of that day also causes us to touch other losses in our lives and our hearts ache for those losses also. Despite the sadness, the fact that our hearts reach for those remembrances and feel the love that was present is an opportunity for healing. For some, the healing and recovery process is achieved with a combination of support from Mental Health Professionals, Certified Grief Counselors, and Certified Professional Coaches, which can be ongoing or as needed.

I remember exactly where I was on 9/11. My office was on the West Side about 2 miles north of Ground Zero. Every time I look at the clock since then and it is 9:11 am or pm, I remember that day. I also remember the amazing outpouring of love, effort, and sacrifice that people expressed during that period. From donating shoes to working long hours in the rubble, people expressed their love in different ways. For me, the remembrance makes me long to “bottle up” the overwhelming love, appreciation, and compassion for each other that was present in time. That’s the true “American” Spirit and we need to display it every day. God Bless America!
